Everything Foodie News at Walt Disney World This July

The month of June is winding down, and Disney Parks Blog is already ramping up the excitement for July with some Walt Disney World foodie news! We’ve got restaurant reopenings, reimagined dining experiences, and a new summer offering for the whole family. Let’s dig in to this exciting news!

Casey’s Corner

A Magic Kingdom staple is finally reopening after over a year out of operation. (Ask any Disney goer, no Magic Kingdom day is complete without corndog nuggets in the hub grass!) Casey’s Corner is a go-to spot for delicious hot dogs, sides, and of course amazing castle views while you eat.

Casey’s Corner reopens tomorrow on Main Street U.S.A. Guests can finally order their favorites again — chili-cheese all-beef hot dogs and of course, corn dog nuggets! One of my favorite drinks to cool off within the summer, the Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade, will also be returning to Casey’s Corner.

Don’t forget, Casey’s Corner is also offering mobile ordering! Click here to check out the menu at Casey’s Corner. I’ve also got my full guide to mobile ordering at Magic Kingdom here!

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

Hand-scooped ice cream is back on Main Street U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park starting July 7, 2021. Plaza Ice Cream Parlor hosted by Edys will be serving up cones and cups of your favorite flavors soon, so get excited! For those with food allergies and sensitivities, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor offers plant-based non-dairy options as well as no sugar added and fat-free. If you’re a floats fan, you’re in luck! Barq’s Root Beer Floats and Coca-Cola Floats will also be back on the menu at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.

Cítricos

A Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa favorite is reopening July 15, 2021, with a newly reimagined space and menu. Cítricos has undergone a makeover and it is now taking design cues from Mary Poppins Returns. Guests can dine “underneath the lovely London sky” while experiencing a delicious new menu and experience from beginning to end. Ready to hear about some of the new offerings? Let’s dive in!

Chef Andre Mendoza has crafted a brand new menu for Cítricos, starting with appetizers like a Sweet Corn Bisque and a Strawberry Salad. The sweet corn bisque is made with pickled fennel, popcorn, and fennel oil. Their colorful strawberry salad features a bacon vinaigrette, spiced sunflower seeds, chamomile-infused goat cheese, and frisee lettuce.

Well, what about entrees? Cítricos has offerings like a butter-poached Florida Cobia with grilled asparagus, mashed fingerling potatoes, and local mushrooms with a grapefruit beurre blanc. Another entree you may enjoy would be their Guava Barbequed Short Ribs served with roasted poblano, curtido slaw, Brussels sprouts, and aged cheddar creamy grits.

Cítricos’ Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer has been creating some sweet treats to end your meal on the best note. The Chocolate Torte will be a chocolate lover’s dream made with a dark chocolate financier, vanilla bean mascarpone cream, and a dark cherry compote. If chocolate isn’t your thing, try the Warm Apple Rose. This dessert is made from a seasonal apple, frozen coconut milk, and marzipan layers.

Sommelier Israel Perez has designed a wine and cocktail program for Cítricos that is said to be exceptional, according to Disney Parks Blog. There’s a new and exclusive Sommelier Room at Cítricos, where Israel and his team can select perfect pairs for Chef Andres’ new kitchen creations.

Click here to view Cítricos’ full menu! This restaurant reopens July 15, 2021, and bookings for dining reservations begin on July 1, 2021.

Trail’s End Restaurant

The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort have a family favorite reopening on July 17, 2021. Trail’s End Restaurant will be serving up hearty family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner starting next month.

Breakfast at Trail’s End will start with a pastry basket and berry granola yogurt parfait. The family-style skillet is next, chock full of amazing breakfast favorites like eggs, sausage, bacon, cheesy potato casserole. Guests will also dig into smoked brisket and of course, Mickey waffles! Adults who plan to start their Disney day with a special drink should try the Moonshine Morning Cocktails. (A Pioneer Mimosa with passion, orange, and guava juices, and a Mountain Mary with moonshine!)

What about dinner? Trail’s End keeps the skillets coming for dinnertime! The meal starts with skillet cornbread, a chopped salad, and hushpuppies. Their dinnertime Smokehouse Skillet features rotisserie chicken, pecan-smoked brisket, fingerling potatoes, andouille sausage, buttered corn on the cob, and green beans. Add-ons like peel ‘n’ eat shrimp, pork spare ribs, and cornbread-crusted salmon are also available at dinnertime.

Last but not least, there’s a Covered Wagon Sundae for dessert! This treat is a wagon load of ice cream, brownies, cookies, chocolate-covered bacon, and other toppings.

Salt & Straw

Here’s the scoop — a new ice cream spot is heading to Disney’s shopping and dining district next year! Salt & Straw is a popular spot at Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, so Disney’s excited to announce another location heading to Disney Springs in the near future.

Disney Family Night Dinner

Starting tomorrow, June 30, 2021, Walt Disney World has a new summer dining offering at two of their resort hotels on property. Disney Family Night Dinner is a family dining bundle that includes a three-course shareable meal, a card-type game inspired by your favorite Disney friends, and some sweet treats. This service will be available nightly from 5 PM to 10 PM through mobile order, and the meal should serve 3-4 people.

Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

If you’re staying at a resort hotel on the Disney Skyliner route, check out Disney Family Night Dinner at Centertown Market. Their meal includes roasted Jamaican-style chicken, cilantro rice, fried yucca, seasonal vegetables, Caribbean pull-apart rolls with onion jam and guava butter, and decorate-your-own Mickey & Minnie cookies for dessert!

Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

For guests staying at resort hotels on the monorail route, stop by Gasparilla Island Grill for Disney Family Night Dinner. This three-course meal starts with a garden salad of tomato, carrots, cucumbers, and a duo of dressings. Next is the savory lasagna and two Mickey-shaped pizzas. For dessert, enjoy Minnie cheesecake with whipped cream, strawberry sauce, and fresh berries.

As you can see, it’s an exciting time ahead at Walt Disney World Resort. I’ll be back next week and I’m hoping to dive into some of these new offerings while I’m in town.
