My First Haircut at Harmony Barber Shop
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has its own “town” of Main Street U.S.A. and while both coasts have similarities, only at Magic Kingdom can you get your hair cut! You read that right — you can get a haircut in Magic Kingdom.
I realized we would be spending my daughter’s first birthday at Walt Disney World so I knew getting her first haircut on Main Street U.S.A. would be such a fun memory to look back on. After months of hoping to pull this off on her actual birthday, I am pleased to share that we were able to check a Harmony Barber Shop haircut off our Magic Kingdom Bucket List!
Did you know there was a barber shop on Main Street U.S.A.? Whether you’re planning your child’s first haircut at Walt Disney World or just looking to make a future haircut a magical one, I’m sharing all the details behind this unique Magic Kingdom experience.
Where Can I Find The Barber Shop and What Services Are Offered?

Harmony Barber Shop is located in the Magic Kingdom on Main Street U.S.A. As you walk under the train station on your way into the park, veer to the left near the firehouse. You’ll spot the barber’s pole to the right in the back corner between the firehouse and the Emporium!
The barber shop is open daily from 9 AM to 4:45 PM and their list of services includes Beard Trimming, Adult Haircut, Child Haircut, and My First Haircut.
Beard Trimming is priced starting at $8. A Child Haircut is $20 and an Adult Haircut is $21, both experiences include a haircut and simple styling with spray. The My First Haircut experience is priced starting at $28, but it includes a few memorable goodies. In addition to the haircut, your child will receive an official milestone certificate, a “My 1st Haircut” Mickey Hat, and a keepsake lock of hair. Considering a plain Mickey Hat goes for $14.99+ in the parks, this experience is priced great in my opinion!
How Can I Make An Appointment at Harmony Barber Shop?

Making a reservation for Harmony Barber Shop is similar to making an advanced dining reservation within the Disney Parks. You can visit the Harmony Barber Shop page on the website or through your Disney World app to check for availability. In my experience, the calendar allows guests to check for or make reservations up to six weeks in advance. If you feel better about having a reservation for the barber shop locked in and can’t seem to snag one, I recommend signing up for alerts through a dining alert site so you can hopefully receive a text or email if one becomes available. I was never able to snag a reservation to the Harmony Barber Shop in advance, so I had to try for walk-up availability day of.
Putting yourself on the list for a walk-up appointment is simple! When you find the shop, go straight to the front desk on the right when you walk in and ask to be added to the list. If they have walk-ups available, you will be quoted a time frame and are added to the list. You MUST be outside of the barber shop waiting when they call your party, so even if you decide to do some shopping in the Emporium while you wait, make sure someone remains outside the barber shop in case you’re called.
In our experience, we were quoted 45 minutes, but really only waited about 15-20 minutes in total. The area is pretty shady and we enjoyed visiting with other guests waiting for their own walk-up to be called!
My First Haircut Experience

Our barber went above and beyond to help us capture this special moment for our daughter! Nick had his “dad cam” while I switched between photo and video on my phone. She was so great about saying “You’ll want to get a picture of this” or “Let me get a group shot of all of you.”

From the moment we walked in, she was equipped with toys and distractions for our daughter to play with while she got her special haircut. Her favorites were a glowing spinning wand and the classic circle Mickey stickers you find sometimes at the parks.

Our barber was caring and made sure to collect some locks from her first haircut for us in a tissue which was presented to us in a drawstring bag at the end of the experience.

After the haircut was complete, she helped us grab some cute shots of our daughter in her Mickey Hat and a photo of the three of us with her special certificate. She knew exactly how to capture the pictures right before our daughter took the hat off! Next, she styled her freshly cut hair for a day in the park.

We’d been styling our daughter’s hair in pigtails, so it was fun that she decided to do a cute half up half down look post-haircut. My favorite part was that she added some glitter at the end too! (Are we still finding some in her hair after a few hair washings? Yes. Does it make us smile every time? Also yes!)

All in all, The Killebrews LOVED this Disney first, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a child’s first haircut experience a bit more magical. At only $28, you really can’t beat the sweet souvenirs, smiles, and memories made for this unique Magic Kingdom experience. I think it’s safe to say it won’t be our daughter’s last haircut on Main Street U.S.A.

Growing up going to Walt Disney World at least once a year, I always wanted to spend my birthday at the parks at least once. Getting to celebrate my daughter’s very first birthday at the Magic Kingdom? Truly a dream come true for me. While we can’t celebrate every single birthday this way, we’ll always look back on her very first birthday with her very first haircut at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
