Seven Reasons to Visit For Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration
Special Entertainment & Outfits
It wouldn’t be a Disney Parks celebration without Mickey & his friends rocking new outfits, right? For Disneyland’s 70th, you’ll find Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Clarabelle, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto out and about in the parks dawning their “Celebrate Happy” style! Keep an eye out for them in the Town Square area. Disneyland is also offering a fun, new character cavalcade, “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” featuring Mickey and all of his friends in their special Disneyland’s 70th outfits. You’ll also spot Goofy’s son Max and two special Disney friends, Duffy and ShellieMay, too! This special cavalcade happens twice daily during the celebration, with showtimes at 1:30 PM and 2:45 PM.
Over in Disney California Adventure Park, guests can experience Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration from now through August 21, 2025. This parade originally debuted last summer as a part of Pixar Fest, but is back for the summer to celebrate Disneyland’s big birthday milestone! With showtimes at 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM, it’s the perfect way to experience more than two dozen Pixar characters on colorful and elaborate floats for a limited time.
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Decor & Attraction Updates
When it comes to celebration decorations, Disneyland never disappoints! The theming for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary is no exception. Sleeping Beauty Castle is draped in colorful and festive 70th decor with matching flags lining the drawbridge and the light poles throughout Main Street U.S.A. On the esplanade between the two parks, you’ll find a 50-foot contemporary sculpture of Sleeping Beauty Castle with five golden charms that represent the five original lands. Even Disney California Adventure is in on the festive decor! The Carthay Circle Restaurant is decked out on the 70th colors and each night the exterior features lights, projections, and music. Disneyland’s 70th decor can also be spotted throughout Downtown Disney and the Hotels of Disneyland.
While most of Disneyland’s 70th changes are exterior, two Disneyland Resort attractions received special upgrades for this milestone celebration. In Disneyland, “it’s a small world” now features Miguel and his alebrije Dante from Coco in the Mexico portion of the attraction. Across the esplanade in Disney California Adventure Park, Toy Story Midway Mania on Pixar Pier features some nods to the celebration, too! You’ll have to ride the attraction to see how Woody and his friend are celebrating Disneyland.
Celebratory Food & Drinks
Seven decades of Disneyland magic calls for a full spread of new eats and treats. From a special 70th Anniversary churro to a Mickey Hat Cookie that truly brings you right back to 1955, you won’t want to pass up the sweets that Disneyland Resort has available for a limited time. In addition to desserts, there are plenty of savory eats to add to your Disneyland foodie bucket list. Try a baked potato inspired by Walt Disney’s favorite meal, chili, or a new take on an old Disneyland staple, the tuna melt.
Between food, drinks, and sweets, there are more than 70 special items for guests to explore! Limited-time eats aren’t only available in the parks, so keep an eye out for specialty items available in Downtown Disney and beyond.
Nighttime Excitement
Does the fun stop once the sun goes down? No way! Both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure offer exciting experiences you can only find after dark in the parks. In Disneyland Park, Paint the Night is back with two showtimes nightly! Catch this must-see nighttime parade at 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM. At 9:35 PM, guests can experience Wondrous Journeys with Fireworks to celebrate the amazing legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios. To finish out the night, guests can experience the “Tapestry of Happiness” bring the “it’s a small world” facade to life through lights, music, and projections. Catch this special nighttime moment at 10:00 PM, 10:15 PM, 10:30 PM, and 11:45 PM nightly all celebration long.
Across the esplanade in Disney California Adventure Park, there’s an all-new “World of Color” show, “World of Color Happiness!” Explore “happy” through a kaleidoscope of emotions with music and moments from so many of your favorite Disney and Pixar stories. World of Color Happiness! comes to life on Paradise Bay nightly at 9:00 PM and 10:15 PM.
Key To Disneyland & Other Interactive Experiences
One Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Experience that has everyone talking is the Key to Disneyland experience. While there is a purchase required, this is a fun and memorable way to explore Disneyland Park for the 70th Anniversary! Once you’ve purchased your Key to Disneyland, visit each of the lands to find a lock station. When you put your key in each lock, a special icon for that land will begin to glow. Once you’ve visited all nine lock stations, your key will reveal one of nine commemorative trading pins! Each pin is inspired by one of the Disneyland lands and you cannot purchase these special pins otherwise. The Key to Disneyland is $59.99 plus tax.
For guests with a MagicBand+, you’ll be happy to learn that there are special ways to interact with the 70th Anniversary Celebration in both parks! In Disneyland, make your way through Disneyland’s original five lands to find fun surprises in each. So, Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Frontierland all have unique effects and interactions for your MagicBand+. It will also interact with nighttime entertainment in both parks!
Lastly, for the Disney History buffs, Disneyland is offering a special tour just for the 70th Anniversary Celebration, A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour at Disneyland Park. This two-hour guided tour includes a historic trip through Disneyland’s past, a Lightning Lane Entry for a select attraction, a ride on two original Disneyland attractions — the Disneyland Railroad and the Mark Twain Riverboat, reserved viewing for the Paint the Night Parade along with some popcorn while you view it, and a special tour keepsake! The tour is available at 9:15 AM, 9:45 AM, 12:30 PM, and 1:00 PM for $120 per adult.
Walt Disney – A Magical Life
On Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, July 17, 2025, Walt Disney — A Magical Life opens at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House. This special anniversary attraction will feature the first audio-animatronic figure of the man behind the magic, Walt Disney. The Opera House Theater will transform into Walt’s office, and Walt will share his stories and some wisdom. Once this initial run of this show has ended, it will play in rotation with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln!
