Disney Eats: Kona Cafe

Aloha and happy Friday, cousins! I don’t know about you, but when it comes to Disney trips the Disney food is one of my favorite parts. On my most recent trip to Walt Disney World I enjoyed the most important meal of the day the Polynesian way!

Kona Cafe is one of the restaurants located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily this restaurant is the perfect option for guests looking for a chance to visit this beautiful resort!

The Polynesian is one hotel that will always be on my Disney Resort bucket list, so anytime I get a chance to visit it’s a fun time. Their breakfast menu is the perfect mix of exotic and comfort food, offering options like macadamia nut pancakes with spiced ham or a ham and cheese omelet!

Polynesian Egg Platter

As for our family, we tried a few different options on the menu. My mom went for the Polynesian Egg Platter, featuring two eggs — any style with fresh fruit poke, a Mickey-shaped muffin, and home-fried potatoes with your choice of spiced ham, bacon, or sausage! I think our favorite part of her plate was the adorable Mickey muffin — because doesn’t everything just taste better when it’s Mickey-shaped?!

Tonga Toast

Paris and I went for the iconic Tonga Toast! As any avid Disney goer — Tonga Toast is the meal to get when you visit Kona Cafe for breakfast. Tonga Toast is banana-stuffed French toast rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with a strawberry compote and your choice of ham, spiced ham, bacon, or sausage. My favorite of the meal was the yummy taste of the Tonga Toast with the strawberry compote on top! (Pro Tip: If you’re not into bananas, but still want to try this meal you can ask for it without the banana!)

Two Eggs-Any Style

Kevin’s plate was last, but certainly not least! He enjoyed Two Eggs-Any Style, which comes with home-fried potatoes and your choice of ham, spiced ham, bacon, or sausage. Not a bite was left, of course!

Tonga Toast with Strawberry Compote

Being that we were all newbies to Kona Cafe on this past trip we really didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant, but after trying it we will definitely be back! Booking reservations to eat there isn’t very competitive so it’s fairly easy to secure a table, even a few days ahead of time. The Polynesian is also right on the monorail route, so guests can resort hop or get to and from Magic Kingdom easily!

If you’re an Annual Passholder, you’re in luck! Kona Cafe offers an Annual Passholder discount, so be sure to ask for it next time you dine there.

After you eat be sure to hang out at the resort for awhile if you can! The lobby downstairs is just gorgeous, right outside you can grab a dole whip at the Pineapple Lanai, and who doesn’t love the fun and carefree vibe of this resort?! (Pro Tip: Looking to shake things up? Take the Polynesian Ferry Boat to Magic Kingdom for a fun, scenic route to the park!)

Kona Cafe definitely earned a spot on my Disney breakfast favorites after this past trip! I look forward to many more Tonga Toasts in my future.
